When I walking to school, I noticed this flag which was not only quite dirty and beaten up but was over this barbed wire. I liked the perspective I had and I composed this photo in the specific way to send a message that I hope was conveyed.

This is a very interesting shot not only because of the angle but also because of the subject matter which could be conveying that the "symbol" of freedom is actually not quite as free as it is sometimes promoted.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have said it better myself!
ReplyDeleteI agree. For me, how you chose to frame the flag and fence really enhances the emotional resonance of this image. I can imagine a person just outside the frame, looking up at the flag and the razor-wire. With the American flag on the other side of the fence, I can't decide if this person has just escaped the confines of the U.S, or if he is dreaming of gaining entry into it. Are they running to or escaping from American "freedom?"
ReplyDeleteThat is completely up to interpretation.
